Ukrainians spent 38% more for fruits and vegetables in October 2010 than a year before
Fruit-Inform continues to monitor fruit and vegetable inflation in Ukraine comparing prices for main set of fruits and vegetables with the previous periods. Results of price monitoring in October 2010 if compared with October 2009 show that cost of fruit and vegetable basket of a Ukrainian consumer in 2010 was 38% higher.
Fruit and vegetable index of Fruit-Inform shows that Ukrainians had to overpay the most for borsch vegetables, as they were 73% higher in price than a year before. Glass-grown vegetables increased in price by 66%, and only fruits showed a modest growth – only by 3%. Although, we should note that, in October of the last year, fruits were too high in price too, as a result of flu panic.
