Traditionally, about 150-200 leading producers of fruits, vegetables and potatoes of Ukraine participate in the annual international conference “Vegetables and Fruit of Ukraine-2010”. As a rule, participants of the event are the most technologically developed companies either already disposing of storage, post harvest handling and packing of produce, or planning to develop them. To demonstrate visually, who are interested in the most important event of a year, we will characterize apple producers having already confirmed participation in the conference.

As of today, we have already received a final confirmation of participation in the conference “Vegetables and Fruit of Ukraine-2010” from professional apple producers, who harvested about 50 thousand tonnes of produce during the current season. This represents approximately 25% of all Ukrainian apple volumes being sold at Ukraine's market within a year! Also, in the nearest days, we expect confirmation of participation in the event from another 10 major producers and some medium-scale ones.

All these companies dispose of intensive apple orchards whose significant part just begins or has not even begun to bear. All of them continue to expand areas under orchards. Even in case if area of orchards does not change, these companies will produce not less than 100 thousand tonnes of apples in 5 years!

Nowadays, already 76% of areas under apple orchards of companies registered for participation in the conference are drip irrigated. Unexceptionally all producers dispose of apple storehouses, and 40% of them dispose of ULO storehouses, and the same number plan to construct such storehouses already in the following year. Half of them already dispose of sorting lines, others consider a possibility of purchase of them. All our producers-participants are interested in finding of new trade outlets of their produce, particularly in the Eastern Europe.

In such a way, we may tell that the most active market participants, real leaders of companies striving to take leading positions at this market are willing to take part in work of the conference “Vegetables and Fruit of Ukraine-2010”. Most of these companies show a vivid interest in novelties of technologies and marketing and thoroughly follow developments in the sector. During the conference, these companies are represented by owners and/or top managers.
