Entrepreneurs' protests in Lviv paralyzed work of the largest in Western Ukraine wholesale market

On November 17, more than a thousand entrepreneurs of Shuvar, the largest in Western Ukraine wholesale market, staged a strike and went on picket demanding vote down of the Tax Code.

As Igor Golukhovskiy, representative of initiative group, told, entrepreneurs are satisfied neither with Tax Code debate and adoption procedure, nor with its essence. In particular, Lvivians oppose aggravation of tax burden, possible introduction of cash registers, increase of payments to Pension Fund. Mr. Golukhovskiy noted that workers of Shuvar market are solidary with all entrepreneurs of Ukraine currently protesting against adoption of the Tax Code.

Aleksey Chumak, Director of Shuvar said that administration of market fully support the entrepreneurs. “We realize that food security of the region depends on our work. Today, we supported entrepreneurs, who unanimously opposed the Tax Code, which is not the best also for wholesale trade. Nowadays, we can not afford to stay aside of this”, he said.

On November 16, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine initiated adoption of the Tax Code. Deputies approved five titles of the Tax Code concerning administration and key tax payments. In their turn, representatives of small and medium-sized businesses held mass protest actions throughout the country. The most large-scale one took place in Kiev, where, as to different data, from 10 to 40 thousand people participated in protest near Parliament.

The Regional Agrarian Marketing Center “Shuvar” is the only wholesale market of Ukraine that is the most close to European standards of wholesale trade. General Director of Shuvar is to make a presentation during the seventh international conference “Vegetables and Fruit of Ukraine-2010”.
