Prospects of imports of carrots, glass-grown tomatoes and apples from Ukraine to Russia

According to analysts of Fruit-Inform, Ukraine can set a record in volumes of supplies of apples to the Russian market in this season. Currently, a difference of prices for apples reaches 130%. This makes supplies profitable, as there is a free trade agreement in force between Ukraine and Russia, and apples are not a subject to import tariff. As to all estimations, export volumes of apples from Ukraine will be record-breaking.

Ukraine as before has significantly lower prices also for glass-grown tomatoes, and continue to increase supplies of them to the Russian market year-on-year. Difference of prices for glass-grown tomatoes reaches almost 100%.

A rather unexpected category able to be exported to Russia is carrots. Often, it is Russia, where Ukrainian wholesalers purchase them. However, unfavorable weather conditions of this summer in Russia had a severe impact on carrot harvest. As a result, difference of prices for this category reaches 2.3-fold. In that way, supplies are possible already now.

More detailed information about prospects of supplies of these commodities to the Russian market will be available in course of work of the seventh international conference ”Vegetables and Fruit of Ukraine-2010”. Here, you will be also able to meet with leading Ukrainian producers and suppliers of glass-grown vegetables, carrots, apples and other fruit and vegetable produce. This event is to take place at “Expocenter of Ukraine”, Kiev, Ukraine, on December 1-2, 2010. You may register for participation on-line through this link.
