Prices for fruit and vegetable produce are not increasing in Ukraine already for the fifth week
Fruit and vegetable index of Fruit-Inform shows that cost of fruit and vegetable basket of a Ukrainian consumer decreased by 0.5% within the last week. In that way, within the last 5 weeks, a set of main fruits and vegetables of Ukraine has decreased in price approximately by 4%.
The main reason of decrease of cost of fruit and vegetable basket during the last week was decrease of prices for glass-grown vegetables and traditional borsch vegetables. And even growth of cost of fruit basket was not able to compensate this.
Prices for glass-grown vegetables (cucumbers and tomatoes) are decreasing already for the second week in a row. However, this did not enable to increase their sales significantly. The main reason of decrease of prices was entering of import produce at the market.
Traditional borsch set decreased in price by 1% within a week due to further sharp decrease of prices for carrots, which are as before the only product of this category with prices lower than in the last year.
Fruit set increased in price by 3% due to rise of prices for bananas and tangerines. Against this background, decrease of prices for lemons appeared to be insignificant.
