Prices for fruits and vegetables started sharply growing in Ukraine again

Fruit and vegetable index of Fruit-Inform shows that cost of fruit and vegetable basket of a Ukrainian consumer increased by 8% at once within the last week having completely compensated 4% decrease experienced during 5 previous weeks.

Within the last week, prices grew for all main produce categories: glass-grown vegetables, domestic and imported fruits, and even borsch set being recently stable. We should honestly note that whitin this set, only cabbage slightly grew in price, so influence of this vegetable group on overall week growth of prices was minimum.

As for prices for glass-grown vegetables, they sharply increased due to growth of prices for tomatoes. Domestic produce season is ending, and imported tomatoes are significantly higher in price. Growth of prices again led to drop in buying activity. As for prices for cucumbers, they decreased within a week, as domestic produce is as before prevailing here.

Fruits increased in price due to table grapes, apples, and bananas. In that way, cost of fruit basket increased by 8% within a week.
