Rapid growth of fruit and veg prices in progress in Russia

Russian Fruit and vegetable index of Fruit-Inform Project shows that cost of fruit and vegetable basket of Russian consumers increased by 6% at once within the last week. In such a way, within the last month, fruit and vegetable produce in Russia became more expensive by 20%.

Fruits and hothouse vegetables were the main cause of growth in cost of the basket within the last week, as they increased in price by 6% and 5% respectively! Traditional vegetables went up in price by 1% within a week.

During the last week, the sharpest increase of prices was registered for hothouse tomatoes and cucumbers. Significant growth of prices was experienced also for table beets and carrots. Apples, bananas and lemons increased in price slightly.

According to estimations of Fruit-Inform Project, within the current week, fruit and vegetable produce prices will reach their peak. After this, their slight decrease is possible.
