Production of meat and eggs in January-August increased on a year

Sales of animals and poultry for slaughter in Ukraine in January-August, 2003 increased 7.6 percent from the corresponding period last year and reached 1.53 million tonnes. The share of organised agricultural businesses in the total production constituted 33.15 percent, while the rest was contributed by private peasant households.

Production of eggs in the analysed period constituted 8.438 billion, which is 2.4 percent above the amount, produced in January-August, 2002.

Production of milk over the eight months of 2003 dropped 4 percent from the same months of last year and constituted 9.74 million tonnes.
