Supermarkets becoming the most important market outlet for borsch vegetables and potatoes in Ukraine
According to Fruit-Inform Project's experts, supermarket chains' share in fruit and vegetable sales is keeping on growing notwithstanding all problems emerging in fruit and vegetable supplies. Nevertheless, currently any of top-10 supermarket chains is bigger consumer than any wholesaler and very important client for suppliers.
Thanks to wide range of Ukraine's fruit and vegetable business, there are emerging opportunities for supplies of borsch vegetables (onions, beets, cabbages, carrots) and potatoes directly to retail chains' distribution centers. And the most welcome suppliers for chains are producers disposing of range of produce as wide as possible during the whole year.
That's why supermarket chains actively seek potato and vegetable suppliers disposing of modern warehouses and equipment for post-harvest handling and packing of fruit and vegetable produce. Collaboration with supermarket chains enables to plan production more efficiently as retail chains can guarantee certain sales volumes even during years of potato and vegetable oversupply.
Taking into consideration the urgency of such subjects, organizers of the third international conference “Potato and Vegetables of Ukraine-2011” invited the biggest supermarket chain in Ukraine to make a speech about development prospects of potato and borsch vegetable (onion, beet, cabbage, carrot) supplies to this market outlet. Maksim Didenko, Head of Fruit and Vegetable Department of OOO Fozzy Group (Silpo, Fozzy, Fora retail chains) has confirmed his participation in this event with the report “Supermarkets in search of efficient potato and borsch vegetable (onion, cabbage, beet, carrot) suppliers: trends and requirements to post-harvest handling, packing, volumes”.
The conference is to take place at Shuvar wholesale market, Lvov, Ukraine, February 24-25, 2011. On-line registration is available through this link.
