Carrot prices in Ukraine being currently lower than during harvesting
According to Fruit-Inform Project, mass-media's exaggeration of potato and other vegetable failure agiotage played a mean trick with some Ukraine's wholesalers. For example, those, who have purchased and stored carrots during harvesting in September, currently incur solid losses. Besides loss of produce and storage expenditures, they often cannot sell carrots at prices at which they have purchased them.
In comparison with the first ten days of September, by the second half of February carrot prices in Ukraine decreased by 9% and are almost one third lower than a year before. Nevertheless, fixed carrot prices satisfy producers who plan further expansion of areas under this crop in 2011.
More detailed information about carrot, other traditional vegetable and potato price situation in the nearest months and the new season will be available in analysts' reports during the third international conference “Potato and Vegetables of Ukraine-2011”.
This event is to take place at Shuvar, the largest fresh fruit and vegetable produce wholesale market of Ukraine, Lvov, Ukraine, February 24-25, 2011.
