Frozen berries in high demand in Ukraine
Analysts of Fruit-Inform Project report of frozen berries to be currently in the highest demand among frozen fruit and vegetable produce in Ukraine. Frozen pitted cherries are especially in the shortest supply, as shortage of this category is experienced during the whole season.
At the same time, Ukraine disposes of very suitable conditions for production of frozen berries thanks to availability of rather large production projects, excellent soil and climatic conditions, duty-free trade with Russia, and growing domestic demand.
“There are great opportunities for establishing of large integrated projects on growing and freezing of berries in Ukraine”, Andriy Yarmak, Head of Fruit-Inform Project, says. “That's why we have included a large section devoted to IQF technologies into the program of our annual berry conference”, the expert continues.
The Second International Conference-Exhibition “Berries of Ukraine-2011: Freezing and Fresh Market” will take place at Shuvar (the largest wholesale market of Ukraine), Lvov, May 19-20, 2011.
