Poland expecting higher apple production notwithstanding damage from frosts
According to Fruit-Inform Project, Polish producers expect increase in apple production in the country notwithstanding damage from spring frosts. Preliminary estimates show that apple production in Poland will grow by 10-12% in 2011.
“Increase in apple production in Poland being the most important supplier to the CIS market and higher harvest expected in other EU countries will have a negative impact on the apple prices in Ukraine and Russia”, Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform Project, states. “Taking into account expected increase in domestic production in Ukraine, Russia and Moldova, the major question is how much the apple prices will decrease”, the expert adds.
We would remind you that a detailed production and price forecast for Russia, Ukraine and Moldova against a background of the situation in the global apple market will be presented at the First International Conference “Apple Business of Ukraine, Russia and Moldova - 2011” which will take place at Stolychnyi Wholesale Market (the largest wholesale market of Ukraine), Kyiv, Ukraine, on August 11, 2011. Registration of the conference participants is in progress.
