Food processing industry stepped up production in Jan.-Sep. 2003
According to the press-service of Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers, in the first 9 months of 2003 the country's food processing industry showed substantial increase of production - 22.8 percent.
The enterprises of the industry in January-September produced goods and rendered services for the total value of 156.3 billion hryvnias (5.33 hryvnias = $1), which is 15.2 percent more than the worth of products, produced over the same period of 2002.
The volumes of production increased in most of basic sub-branches within the industry. Thus, the output in fat industry increased 47.5 percent, in fruit and vegetables processing - 34.3 percent, in meat industry - 24.7 percent, in tobacco industry - 20.0 percent. Last year's volumes of production were exceeded in beverage industry (14.6 percent), dairy industry (10.4 percent), confectionery industry (10.3 percent).
The level of production of food processing equipment increased 13.4 percent in comparison with January-September 2002; output of agricultural machines rose 3.0 percent.
