Prices for traditional vegetables twice as low as in 2010 in Russia
According to Fruit-Inform Project, prices for traditional vegetables (red beets, carrots, white cabbages and onions) keep on decreasing in the Russian market. Moreover, the average price level is already twice as low as in the same period of 2010.
White cabbages lead in the price reduction, as they are almost 5 times cheaper. Red beets decreased in price 2 times, carrots – 1.5 times, and onions – by 30%. Such a situation is welcomed by consumers, but has a bad impact on producers. For example, due to low prices, white cabbages were left unharvested in many Russian regions.
Will vegetable prices decrease further in Russia, or will they grow closer to winter? This and many other questions will be answered during the Fourth International Conference “Fruit & Vegetable Business of Russia – 2011”. The event will take place in conjunction with World Food Moscow, September 14, 2011. Registration of the conference participants is currently in active progress.
