Ukrainian field-grown tomato producers dissatisfied with processors' procurement policy

Ukraine's producers of field-grown tomatoes are again dissatisfied with the procurement policy of major processing enterprises in this season. According to farmers, processing factories increased their requirements to the quality of raw tomatoes taking into consideration high level of supply in the market and are trying to reduce procurement prices. Major Ukrainian processors, inclusive of Sandora and Chumak, currently offer the following procurement prices: UAH 0.70-0.75/kg (EUR 0.06-0.07). However, even under these conditions, it is difficult for farmers to conclude contracts with processors due to enterprises' higher quality standards. The situation with sales to small processing factories is slightly better. However, their procurement prices are UAH 0.05-0.10/kg (EUR 0.005-0.01/kg) lower.
