Only marketing professionals to survive among Ukrainian vegetable growers

The season of record low prices for vegetables and potatoes, which has been already forecast by Fruit-Inform's analysts in December 2010, will be a strength challenge for the Ukrainian fresh produce sector. Unfortunately, the current season will lead to the sharp outflow of investments from this sector and significant losses for many investors, traders and producers.

“The season 2011/12 will be a strength challenge for Ukraine's vegetable and potato producers, as, for the past two years, they were mastering mainly production and storage technologies and had no problems with sales at quite high prices”, Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform, says. “This year only those farmers, engaged not only in production technologies, but in fruit and vegetable marketing, will make a profit”, the expert continues.

In particular, the issues of availability of diversified marketing channels and owned sales outlets on the wholesale markets are rather urgent in this season. In addition, an active exploration of new internal and external target markets will as well be important. In such a way, Trade Forum held within the Eighth International Conference “Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine – 2011. New Exporter”, December 2, 2011, will be an ample opportunity for Ukrainian producers and wholesalers.

The conference will take place in conjunction with Fresh Produce Ukraine 2011 Fair which will be held at IEC, the most up-to-date exhibition center of Ukraine in Kiev, from November 30 to December 2, 2011. The exhibition will be visited by about 10,000 people from 25 countries throughout the world, primarily from Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Moldova and Belarus.
