Fruit-Inform increases its 2011 white cabbage production forecast for Ukraine

After the survey of producers from all Ukrainian regions, Fruit-Inform's analysts increased their 2011 white cabbage production forecast for Ukraine. The production forecast was increased by 5% that means that Ukraine will harvest 23% more white cabbages in 2011 than in the previous year. Moreover, white cabbage production and surplus in the market will be record-breaking over all history of independent Ukraine.

Current real wholesale prices for white cabbages average UAH 0.40-0.60/kg (EUR 0.04-0.06/kg) in most regions of the country. However, produce is rather difficult to be sold even at these prices. Moreover, the majority of big producers have not even started their harvesting of late white cabbages which account for the most important part of the white cabbage supply in the market from November to May.

More detailed information about Ukraine's fresh produce production and price prospects in the current season is available in the updated fundamental study “Fruit & Vegetable Market of Ukraine – 2011. Results and Forecasts for the Next Season”.
