Twofold week-on-week increase of greenhouse cucumber prices in Ukraine

Greenhouse cucumbers doubled in price in Ukraine last week in comparison with the previous week. As of October 14, 2011, farms were selling cucumbers for export at UAH 10-11/kg (EUR 0.91-1.00/kg) while, in the previous week, the sales had been difficult to conduct at UAH 4.50-5.50/kg (EUR 0.41-0.50/kg) in the internal market. Internal prices for cucumbers as well increased to UAH 7.50-8.00/kg (EUR 0.68-0.73/kg) within just 2 days (Thursday-Friday).
