Russia leads in imports of apples from Argentina's Patagonia
According to www.fruticulturasur.com.ar, Russia is the leader in imports of apples from Argentina's Patagonia in the period between January and September 2011 with imported volumes amounted to 58,600 tonnes. As to pears, the Russian Federation took the second place (109,400 tonnes) and is behind only Brazil (132,400 tonnes).
Total apple and pear exports from Patagonia rose 35% year-on-year in the mentioned period. Apple export volumes increased by 31% to 206,634 tonnes, and values grew by 37% to $167.3 million. Pear shipments rose too: values are 34% higher and grew to $399.6 million, and volumes went up by 19% and amounted to 459,016 tonnes.
