Month-on-month decrease of the value of Ukrainians' fruit and vegetable basket in October
Fruit-Inform's fruit and vegetable index shows that the value of Ukrainians' fruit and vegetable basket kept on decreasing in October. In such a way, fruit and vegetable prices have been falling in price for 6 months in Ukraine.
However, the month-on-month decrease of the basket's value was minimal in October and amounted to 1.3%. The sharp growth of the prices for seasonal vegetables (cucumbers and tomatoes) was compensated by lower prices for potatoes and traditional vegetables (onions, carrots, red beets and white cabbages).
The value of fruit basket slightly increased in October exclusively thanks to higher prices of table grapes in the country. Banana and citrus prices fell due to the start of the new citrus season in the Northern Hemisphere.
More information about the current situation in the Russian and Ukrainian fresh produce markets is available for subscribers of Fruit-Inform Weekly.
