Pre-New-Year increase in fruit and vegetable prices to be record low in Ukraine
According to Fruit-Inform, a Pre-New-Year increase in fresh produce prices will most likely be record low in Ukraine this year and will amount to 4.5-6%. After holidays, the prices will fall to their current levels.
“Thanks to the supply of traditional vegetables (onions, white cabbages, red beets, carrots) and potatoes considerably prevailing over the demand, there will be almost no increase in prices for them before New Year holidays”, Mrs. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform, says. “Fruits will grow in price insignificantly, as Ukrainians' paying capacity changed slightly year-on-year, while the supply of fruits grew. The most appreciable price rise will be registered for greenhouse vegetables, as the demand for them sharply grows during New Year holidays, while their production cannot be significantly increased in this period of the season”.
We would remind you that the fundamental Ukraine fruit and vegetable price forecast for the season 2012/13 will be presented at the Fourth International Conference “Potatoes and Vegetables of Ukraine – 2012”, Kiev, Ukraine, February 16-17, 2012.
