Ukraine to increase imports of fruits and vegetables from Azerbaijan
According to www.en.trend.az, Ukraine is aimed at increasing fruit and vegetable imports from Azerbaijan by five or six times, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Viktor Maiko told reporters in Baku.
“Exports of traditional products from Azerbaijan to Ukraine can be increased by five or six times. Main export market for fruits and vegetables of Azerbaijan is Russia. Capacity market in Ukraine is not much lower than in Russia in this regard. Taking into account the high quality of fruits and vegetables produced in Azerbaijan, we have to buy more. It will be better for us to buy here than in the markets of third countries on some fairly high prices and with unclear quality. It is just one example of expanding trade and economic relations”, Maiko said.
Maiko added that Ukrainian exports to Azerbaijan may also be increased.
“We can work on a range of programs,” Maiko said.
The potential of the trade and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine is many times greater than the existing level, Maiko added.
“The relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are the field of unused capacity. Despite the fact that the trade volume reached a good figure of $1.5 billion, it is much below the potential,” Maiko said.
