Russia: government's panel recommended a 1.05 mln t quota for import of poultry meat
The Russian Government's Commission on Protective Measures in Foreign Trade and Customs & Tariff Policies has recommended establishing a quota for import of poultry meat to Russian Federation in 2004 in the amount of 1.05 million tonnes, in 2005 - 1.05 million tonnes, and in the first quarter of 2006 - 306,000 tonnes, AK&M agency has informed.
The 2004 quota will be distributed among the subjects of foreign trade according to a historical principle, proportionately to volumes of their imports in preceding years. Sixty percent of the quota will be granted to the subjects of foreign trade, proportionately to their year-average volumes of poultry meat import in 2003; 40 percent of this amount will be distributed proportionately to year-average imports in 2000-2002.
