State reserve will purchase 644,200 t of milling wheat

The Committee for State Material Reserve (Derzhkomreserv) at a tender, held November 27, outlined the companies which will provide deposition into the reserve of 644,200 tonnes of milling wheat, 27,500 tonnes of sugar and 2,200 tonnes of beef, a spokesman for the Committee told Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Tuesday.

The Committee has also determined the companies to deposit into the reserve 300,000 tonnes of maize, 3,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds and 7,100 tonnes of rice.

The asking prices for 3rd class milling wheat constituted 1,170 to 1,270 hryvnias per tonne, for 4th class wheat - 1,150 hryvnias per tonne (5.33 hryvnias = $1), the news agency informed.

Ukraine's government ordered the State Reserve to purchase and deposit 1 million tonnes of milling wheat till the end of 2003. The Committee also plans to buy 100,000 tonnes of sugar in this year.
