Ukrainian farmers dissatisfied with apple prices
Apple sales do not make Ukrainian producers happy. Sellers hoped for more active trade after autumn apples of higher quality having entered the market. However, those hopes have not been realized, and the market is still flooded with summer and autumn apples, while prices either do not fluctuate, or gradually decrease.
For the present, ex-farm prices of Ukrainian apples vary mainly between UAH 3.50-4.50/kg (EUR 0.34-0.44/kg). Moreover, sales at maximum prices are rather difficult now. In addition, many farmers are ready to sell last quantities of summer apples at UAH 1.80-2.50/kg (EUR 0.18-0.24/kg). According to Fruit-Inform, in the first ten days of September 2011, apple prices in Ukraine were 20-30% higher.
