Russia: record high apple imports in 2011/12
In the season 2011/12, Russia's apples imports turned out to be the highest over the previous 5 years. According to Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, the country imported 1.2 mln tonnes of apples in the season 2011/12 that was 12% higher year-on-year. Moreover, over the past 5 years, Russia's apple imports have grown by a third.
Poland led in apple exports to Russia in the season 2011/12 with the share of 40% in Russia's total apple imports. Moldova with the share of 15% was the second biggest supplier followed by China with the share of 11%.
