Lower fresh produce price index in Ukraine

Fruit-Inform's fresh produce price index shows a further decrease of 2.7% in fruit and vegetable prices in Ukraine last week with lower prices being registered in all segments of the Ukrainian fresh produce market.

“Last week, fruit prices became 3.4% lower thanks to appearance of citrus fruits of new harvest in the Ukrainian market and lower prices of bananas”, said Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “In addition, previously overpriced greenhouse vegetables had to become less expensive as Ukrainian consumers had immediately responded to overpricing by a sharp decrease in the demand, while importers – by sharply higher imports”.

Traditional vegetables kept on decreasing in price thanks to ongoing harvesting of red beets and carrots and the start of harvesting of late white cabbages.

We would remind you that more information about current developments and future prospects in the Ukrainian and Russian fruit and vegetable markets is available for subscribers of Fruit-Inform Weekly service package.
