Moldova reduces table grape exports
Moldova has reduced table grape exports by 20% in the past 5 years. Ukraine has especially imported less Moldovan table grapes: Moldova's exports to this country have fallen almost 15 times since 2007. A decrease of 25% was registered also in Belarus that nevertheless remains the second biggest export market for table grapes from Moldova. In 2011, Belarus imported 5,000 tonnes of Moldovan produce or 18% of total exports.
Russia continues to be the most important importer of Moldovan table grapes. Last year, the Russian Federation imported 26,000 tonnes of these fruits that accounted for 75% of Moldova's total table grape exports. Moreover, Russian imports from Moldova increased by 170% in the past 5 years.
Romania ranks third in export markets for Moldovan table grapes. Last year, this country imported 2,000 tonnes of this produce or 6% of total exports. Moreover, over the past 5 years, Moldova's table grape shipments to Romania grew more than 6 times.
