Moldova's apple exports up
Moldova's apple exports have grown almost 2.5 times over the past 5 years. In 2007 exports of Moldovan apples had amounted to 78,500 tonnes, while in 2011 apple exporters from Moldova sold almost 195,700 tonnes of these fruits.
In such a way, Moldova currently exports about 60% of all apples grown in the country with Russia being the main export destination for them. In the previous season, the Russian Federation imported 186,000 tonnes of Moldovan apples worth more than 60 mln euro. Russia is followed by Belarus and Romania with their shares in Moldova's total apple exports amounting to 3% and 2%, respectively.
