Ukraine: fruits and vegetables to be 22% more expensive before New Year
According to Fruit-Inform, fruits and vegetables will be 22% more expensive in Ukraine before New Year holidays .
“The most significant increase will be registered in prices of traditional vegetables and potatoes”, said Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “However, they will remain relatively inexpensive, and their price growth is connected with the price situation in the end of last year, when growers were not able to sell their produce at all”.
Fruit prices will be 20% higher. Moreover, Ukrainian consumers will have to spend more on fruits than on vegetables that are significantly less expensive.
Cabbage will be the leader in fruit and vegetable price growth with a price increase rate of 2.8 times year-on-year. Beetroots will be 60% more expensive, mandarin and lemon prices will grow by 35%. Onions will be the only fruit and vegetable category with lower prices (by 10%).
