Austria increases apple exports to Ukraine

According to State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in the first 5 months of the season 2012/13, Ukraine imported 137 tonnes of apples from Austria that was 3.5 times higher year-on-year.

In the aggregate, Austria exported 331 tonnes of apples to Ukraine in the season 2011/12 with 80% of them shipped in May-June. In such a way, Austrian exporters have a good chance to raise total apple exports to Ukraine in this season.

At the same time, it should be noted that Austrian total apple production amounted just to 157,000 tonnes in 2012 that was the lowest result over the past decade.
