AJC prices decrease in Ukraine

Prices of apple juice concentrate (AJC) continue to decrease in Ukraine due to lower exports and weak demand in the internal market.

An increase in China's exports to the EU and CIS countries was the main reason for lower demand for Ukrainian AJC. Competition sharply grew in the internal market that, in its turn, led to lower prices.

In addition, prices are affected by a decrease in juice consumption both in the internal and external markets that, according to Ukrainian processors, is a result of Ukrainians' lower incomes and difficult business environment in the EU.

Nevertheless, prices currently fluctuate within the previous price range. For example, prices of clarified AJC vary between UAH 12.20-16.70/kg (EUR 1.50-1.57/kg), while unclarified AJC is offered at UAH 10.00-11.70/kg (EUR 0.90-1.10/kg).
