Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market stagnates

Fruit-Inform's Ukrainian fresh produce price index shows ongoing stagnation in the fruit and vegetable market in the country. Last week the index decreased by 0.3%. Thus, it has been stagnating for the seventh week in row with its fluctuations amounting to atypical 0-1.5% within a week in this period.

“The most significant price fluctuations were registered in the cucumber segment last week: higher domestic outputs led to a sharp decrease in cucumber prices in Ukraine”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “At the same time, the price index of potatoes and traditional vegetables (onions, white cabbage, beetroots, carrots) decreased by 0.8% thanks to ongoing bargain sales of white cabbage and onions in the country”.

The Ukrainian fruit market has been stable for the third week in a row, aside from a slight increase in banana prices last week. Importers kept on complaining about low consumption activity, which led to troubles with wholesale distribution. Even the demand for domestic apples has somewhat decreased in Ukraine.

We would remind you that more information about current developments and future prospects in the Ukrainian and Russian fruit and vegetable markets is available for subscribers of Fruit-Inform Weekly service package.
