Record high grape imports in Russia in January
According to Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, in January this year, Russia increased grape imports by 5% year-on-year to 15,600 tonnes, the record high result for this month over the past 5 years. For comparison, in January 2012, Russian importers bought just 14,800 tonnes of grapes.
At the same time, grape imports fell on a month-on-month basis, as they amounted to 24,600 in December 2012.
Peru, Lithuania and South Africa were the main exporters of grapes to Russia in January this year.
