Russia sets a record in apple imports
Russia's apple import volumes amounted to record high 152,200 tonnes in January 2013 and were 25% higher year-on-year. For comparison, Russian importers purchased about 113,000 tonnes in January 2012.
Moreover, apple imports in January this year were higher also on a month-on-month basis: in December 2012, Russia imported just 125,000 tonnes of these fruits.
Poland, Moldova and Serbia were the main exporters of apples to the Russian Federation in January this year.
