China accounts for a half of global apple production
According to the data of the fundamental study “Apples of Ukraine & Russia — 2013: Present Situation and Prospects in Growing, Storage, Handling, Processing and Marketing” conducted by Fruit-Inform analysts, China accounts for about a half of global apple production.
Chinese apple growers harvest about 47% of global apple crop annually. The country is followed by the USA, Turkey, India, Poland, Italy and France. Furthermore, China's share in global apple production is larger than cumulative share of six other countries.
Chinese farmers give preference to growing Fuji apples, the variety accounting for 60% of China's total apple production.
