Russia: lower supply of domestic apples, higher prices of imported fruits
According to the Russian apple market participants, Russian apple stocks keep on rapidly decreasing, which, however, still has no impact on prices.
Under conditions of relatively low apple consumption, the majority of sellers of both imported and domestic apples decided not to revise prices. Only some of them managed to slightly raise minimum price levels. Current minimum prices of domestic apples are not lower than RUB 20/kg (EUR 0.50/kg). Polish apples are offered at RUB 27-29/kg (EUR 0.67-0.72/kg) in the majority of cases. Sellers of Polish fruits expect prices to keep on growing in the nearest time. An increase in prices of imported apples is backed by stable demand for them in Russia. Furthermore, positive price performance is also observed in Poland.
