Higher AJC sales in Ukraine

Ukrainian processors say of higher sales rates of apple juice concentrate (AJC) in the country. They connect more active sales with a seasonal increase in juice companies' purchase volumes. Higher demand has already positively impacted prices. Over the past month, Ukrainian clarified AJC has grown in price by 4%; unclarified AJC has become 11% more expensive. Processors currently offer clarified AJC at UAH 12.00-13.60/kg (EUR 1.14-1.30/kg); sales of unclarified AJC are conducted at UAH 9.40-10.50/kg (EUR 0.90-1.00/kg).

More significant increase in prices is impeded by large supply of relatively inexpensive Chinese AJC in the global market.

Nevertheless, the majority of Ukrainian processors are rather optimistic and expect further growth of sales over the following two months, which is traditionally observed closer to the vacation season.

We would remind you that more detailed information about Russian and Ukrainian apple business with 5-year outlook is available in the fundamental study “Apples of Ukraine & Russia — 2013: Present Situation and Prospects in Growing, Storage, Handling, Processing and Marketing”.
