Russia: pear imports lowest in past 4 years

According to Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, Russia's imports of pears in the period from July 2012 to March 2013 amounted to 260,000 tonnes, a decrease of 14% from the same period of the previous season and record low result over the past 4 years.

Imports were lower only in the season 2008/09, when imports had reached just 230,000 tonnes in the same period.

The Netherlands, Argentina and Belgium were the main suppliers of pears to the Russian market.
