Strawberries become more popular among Ukrainian consumers
According to Fruit-Inform, a significant increase in strawberry consumption should be expected in Ukraine in the current season. Thanks to widespread application of modern growing technologies and development of distribution channels, the strawberry supply continues to grow in Ukraine, while prices keep on going down.
In the current season, despite late spring, strawberry prices are averagely 15% lower year-on-year. Furthermore, the market experts expect strawberry prices to be relatively low within the whole season, and minimum price levels to be reached by June 10-15, when harvesting campaign is to start in the northern, western and central regions of Ukraine.
In addition, processors may start their season earlier than usual thanks to faster price reduction. The current season will also be characterized by higher supply of day-neutral strawberries. In such a way, Ukrainian strawberries will remain in supply not only in May-June, but also in July-October.
