Russia reduces imports of Ukrainian apples
According to the official statistics, Russia has been reducing imports of Ukrainian apples season by season.
In the first 10 months of the season 2012/13, Russia imported record low 17,000 tonnes of apples from Ukraine, a decrease of 32% from the same period of the previous season. Furthermore, imports in the period from July 2010 to April 2011 reached 51,000 tonnes.
Ukraine currently ranks seventh in apple exports to Russia with the share of 1.5% in Russia's total imports. Poland, Moldova and China are the largest exporters of apples to the Russian Federation.
