Argentina reduces apple exports to Russia
Argentina has been steadily reducing apple exports to the Russian Federation over the past few seasons. In the period from July 2012 to April 2013, Argentina exported 15,000 tonnes of apples to Russia, a decrease of 21% from the same period of the previous season. For comparison: in the first 10 months of the season 2011/12, Argentina's exports to Russia were 5% lower year-on-year and amounted to 19,000 tonnes.
However, despite lower exports, Argentina managed to improve its position among Russia's apple suppliers. Currently, Argentina ranks ninth, while a year ago this country was only twelfth largest exporter of apples to the Russian Federation.
