Ukrainian apple season starts

According to Fruit-Inform, first domestic early apples (of Belyi Naliv and Slava Pobeditelyu varieties) were offered for sale in Ukraine this week.

The Ukrainian apple season has started a week later than last year, and prices are lower year-on-year. For the present, Ukrainian growers offer early apples at UAH 4-8/kg (EUR 0.39-0.78/kg). In the previous season, the price minimum amounted to UAH 6/kg (EUR 0.58/kg). Growers say that sales rates are moderate now in view of still small supply of early apples and availability of seasonal fruits in the market.

We would remind you that more detailed information about the Russian and Ukrainian apple production and market prospects will be presented at the 3rd International Conference “Apple Business of Ukraine & Russia – 2013”, which is to take place on August 15-16, 2013, Donetsk, Ukraine.
