Apple yields in Dutch orchards half higher than in Ukraine

According to Fruit-Inform, apple yields in Dutch orchards are averagely a half higher than in Ukraine.

Ukrainian commercial apple farms say of 30-35 MT/ha apple yields. Only some modern farms can boast yields of 50-60 MT/ha, which are the best result in the country. At the same time, Dutch growers consider such yields to be unsatisfactory. For comparison, average apple yields in the Netherlands amount to 70-80 MT/ha, and some Dutch farms say of yields reaching 90 MT/ha.

The same situation is observed in the pear sector. Ukrainian farms' pear yields average 20-25 MT/ha, while Dutch growers have yields standing at 50-60 MT/ha.

We would remind you that more detailed information about the Russian and Ukrainian apple market developments and outlook will be presented at the 3rd International Conference “Apple Business of Ukraine & Russia – 2013”, which is to take place on August 15-16, 2013, Donetsk, Ukraine.
