Further decrease in fruit and vegetable prices in Ukraine

Fruit-Inform's Ukrainian fresh produce price index shows a further decrease in fruit and vegetable prices in the country. In the period from July 20th to 26th, prices decreased by 15.8%, after a fall of 14.2% a week before and 11.4% in the second week of July. In such a way, fruits and vegetables have become 41.3% less expensive over the past 3 weeks.

“Almost all fruits and vegetables except cucumbers fell in price last week”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “The sharpest decrease rate was registered in the potato segment: by 21.5% week-on-week. Traditional vegetables (onions, white cabbage, beetroots, carrots) became 18.5% less expensive. The fruit index decreased thanks to lower prices of melons and watermelons”.

Traditional vegetables are expected to keep on becoming less expensive in the nearest time in compliance with traditional seasonal trends. In the same period of the previous season, a decrease in prices was less significant, but price levels were lower too.
