Russian processors start buying apples
Russian processors have started apple procurement campaign.
The season started in the same period as last year. Processors' current purchase prices vary between RUB 3.00-3.50/kg (EUR 0.07-0.08/kg), which is similar to last year's price levels.
A week before apple growers were unsatisfied with processors' prices and did not ship apples under those conditions.
Farmers expected higher price levels in the beginning of the season due to relatively low yields of early and middle-season apples this year. However, due to low quality of raw apples, apple growers had to reduce prices to the above-mentioned levels.
