Ukrainian grape production to stay at last year's level

Ukrainian growers will harvest about 460,000 tons of grapes in 2013, which is almost the same year-on-year, according to Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Ukraine.

“Ukraine's total grape production (inclusive of non-commercial crop) amounted to 456,000 tons in 2012. This year we expect grape production to stand at 450,000-460,000 tons. Taking into account a drop in wine sales in the country, such a production level will be quite enough for the Ukrainian market”, says Mr. Sergey Mikhaylechko, Director of Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Ukraine.

He also said that current weather conditions are rather favorable for the future grape crop. Production in Odessa region may grow by 10% year-on-year. Harvested volumes in Mykolaiv, Kherson and Crimea regions will stay at last year's levels, according to Mr Mikhaylechko.

We would remind you that Ukraine lowered grape production by 12.6% to 456,000 tons last year.

More detailed information about Ukrainian grape market developments and industry outlook will be presented during the International Exhibition-Conference “Golden Bunch of Grapes – 2013”, which is to take place in Simferopol, Ukraine, August 22-24, 2013.
