Ukraine: fruit prices in first ten days of September lower year-on-year

Fruit-Inform's Ukrainian fresh fruit price index in the first ten days of September fruits was 11.3% lower year-on-year. Prices of almost all fruits have decreased compared with the same period of the previous season.

“The sharpest decrease in prices is registered in the segment of watermelons, which are a third less expensive. Prices of grapes, peaches and apples have fallen by 10% year-on-year. Oranges are less expensive too, though their consumption is not very high now”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “At the same time, bananas and mandarins have slightly grown in price”.

The market experts connect lower prices of fruits with good production of melons, watermelons and stonefruits in Ukraine. The Ukrainian market is also expected to be significantly impacted by high production of apples in Poland in autumn and winter.

We would remind you that more information about current developments and future prospects in the Ukrainian and Russian fruit and vegetable markets is available for subscribers of Fruit-Inform Weekly service package.
