Fieldwork progress in Ukraine May 13

According to the Agrarian Policy Ministry, as of May 13, 2004 the farmers of Ukraine have sown spring crops on the area 16.13 million hectares (94 percent of the area forecast). Early grains and pulses have been sown on 5.94 million hectares (101 percent of the forecast).

Maize has been sown on 3.12 million hectares (92 percent of the forecast), including 2.18 million hectares, sown for grain usage (102 percent of forecast).

Sugar beet has been sown on 804,300 hectares (90 percent of the forecast), sunflower - on 2.59 million hectares (102 percent of the forecast).
