Ukrainian vegetable market stabilizes

According to Fruit-Inform, with active progress in harvesting traditional vegetables, the Ukrainian market stabilized after a surge from the mid-September to last week.

“This week growers of traditional vegetables and potatoes reported of lower demand for their produce”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “The demand fell the most in the red beet segment and also significantly decreased in the potato market due to growing supply. The demand for carrots went down too. White cabbages are still in low demand. Furthermore, even the demand for onions, which prices were record high last week, slightly decreased.

Lower demand led to a decrease in wholesale prices of some traditional vegetables. Nevertheless, their levels are still significantly higher year-on-year, and further pricing will differ much in the potato and vegetable market segments.

We would remind you that more detailed information about the Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market developments will be presented at the 10th Anniversary International Conference “Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine-2013”, November 26-28, 2013, International Exhibition Center, Kiev, Ukraine.
